Description

The story takes place in Paris, where a young doctor, Marie Laurent, takes a job at Professor Kern’s clinic. She discovers that Kern is conducting experiments on organ reanimation and that he has kept the head of his teacher, Professor Dowell, alive. Marie begins to communicate with Dowell’s head and learns about his fate and how Kern is using his scientific discoveries for selfish purposes. Kern, wanting to keep his achievements secret, uses Dowell’s head to reanimate other people, including creating a new body for the singer Briket. Marie tries to expose Kern’s crimes and help Dowell achieve freedom, but her actions lead to tragic consequences.
